The Talking Therapy.

On a fateful Wednesday morning, I was at Vauxhall station waiting for my train to Waterloo when I noticed a nicely dressed beautiful lady looking sharp (physically looking okay but emotionally shattered).  I caught her glance and I smiled with a wink and she managed to wave at me. After 5 mins my train finally arrived and we both boarded. As God will have it, we were both heading the same direction. All I asked was how are you today?

From my how are you today, I got to know how emotionally and mentally distressed this lady is as she poured out her heart to me. After our chat, she smiled in relief as if a heavy load has just been removed from her. Whatever gives her the confidence that she can talk to me I don’t know but the bottom line is that, she was able to speak out what has been bothering her and that to me was the first step to her recovery. I saw this image on the net and I thought to include it in this write up

In therapy there is a kind of therapy called the Psychological or talking therapy.  It is used for treating patients with depression or bipolar disorder. A lot of people today are bitter, grumpy and sad not because they are sadist or bad but because they just don’t know that talking to people could help them with their emotional issues.

I watch an Indian movie recently titled dear Zindaji (Dear Life), the young lady in the movie could not just make a head way in all aspects of her life, as a result of something that happened with her parents when she was growing up. A talk session with a therapist set her on the right course.

Is something that happened in the past affecting your present and threatening your future or are you going through some emotional distress, seek help by talking to someone who can help, not just anybody but experts in this field. Most times is not that they will offer  solution but being able to voice it out is the first step in the healing process.  In my next post I will share Talia’s story on how talking therapy has helped her, but before then, Remember this:
