No excuse Mentality

In life we often give reasons for our failures and errors, but history have shown that no matter the situation, there is always no excuse for failure in life. Permit me to share with you some names, disabled people who we might say have good and legitimate reasons not to succeed in life but overcame the hurdles and challenges before them to be among the living legend.

Nick Vujicic, our famous Australian evangelist is a living testimony that not matter how bad the situation might be, if you are determined with God’s help you will make it. Nick was born without arms, legs and limbs, but he refused to allow that limit him and today he is one of the most successful people in the world. Nicaraguan Tony, Melendez has no arms but he is a famous guitarist and even plays better than people with arms.

Mordecai Brown is a baseball legend who refused to allow the fact that he lost some of his fingers during a farming accident kill his dream of becoming a baseball player, he even got the nick name “three finger” in the course of his career. Oscar Pistorius, Steve Wonder and many more are success stories who turned their disabilities into the weapon that propelled them to greatness.

Now lets come home to Nigeria and see people we can relate with. Idowu Akinrolabu of blessed memory, was the famous disabled mouth painter in Lagos, Cobham Asuquo never allowed his disability to limit him. Yinka Ayefele our Afro musician is another inspiring story that refused to stay down when life threw him down.

Many of us that are able bodied complain and focus on what is wrong with us, “I cannot make a head way because I don’t have money, am not from a rich family, I don’t have the needed connection, the system is not working, government is not doing the right thing, the economy is bad and we go on and on. Yes these are very true and things will remain like that for only God knows when. The system will never be right, politicians will always be corrupt, government officials will always take bribe, there will never be enough money in circulation, but we can always decide to do something good for ourselves. Why not let’s leave the wrong things and focus on that one thing that is right and turn it to our strength for success.

Do not allow you disabilities be a limitation, but rather a propeller to success. I have never been a good writer, neither am I a good orator, but since I started this blog, I have continually strive to improve on my writing skills, and gradually am improving, though am not there yet but am definitely not where I used to be.

It’s always a rough road to destiny, behind every glory is a story, for every triumph there is a trial and for every testimony there is a test. The fact that you are on the ground does not mean your back should be on the ground. your greatest enemy is you, before you can conquer the world you need to conquer yourself first. Once you can overcome your fears, the sky is just the beginning.

Remember this: the top is not for the faint hearted, but the brave.
