Take the sack off your back

It’s been a while since my last post, but as I was reading tonight I felt compelled to put this out. What is in the sack in front of you?

Let me start with this story I read about three friends who traveled on a journey, each of them carrying two bags, one in front and the other at the back. The three of them started at the same pace but one of them, Mr. A has the fastest pace than the other two (Mr. B & Mr. C.) Although Mr. B is faster than Mr. C but not as fast as Mr. A, while Mr. C has the slowest pace.

Along the way they met a stranger who asked them what they have in their bags, here are their responses;

Mr.C, the bag on my back is filled with all the good things that have happened to me, good health, promotion, good family and many more while the front pack is filled with my negative memories and bad experiences I have gone through,  it is very difficult to move fast what this bag in front of me.

The stranger asked Mr. B, hear his response, my back pack has all my bad and negative memories, while the front bag has the good ones, even though the weight of the back pack still weighs me done but I am still moving forward.

For Mr. A, the story is different, like Mr. B his back pack is filled with bad and negative memories but he cut a hole in it so that he can release them gradually, move on and eventually carrying an empty back pack, while he can focus on the good memories in front of him and move very fast.

Huummmmm!!, what an interesting story, 3 people with the same type of content in their bags but different attitude.

Truth be told many of us are like Mr. C, we focus so much on our past mistakes, shames and sorrow which prevent us from seeing the good things happening to us. We are so burdened and weighed  down with them that we tend to live in the past.

Mr. B is better, at least he can focus on the good things but he still carries the memories of the past just like many of us, these make it very difficult  for us to move as fast as we will want to. The man I love most is Mr. A, he freed himself from the past so that he can enjoy the present and live the future.

Mistakes and failures of the past are supposed to help us find the right track and propel us to move forward, we need to let go of the past, release ourselves from the burden and guilt of them so that it does not ruin the present and the future. Take off the pack of  past mistakes, shames, failures and regrets whether in front or at the back and put the good memories you have in front of you, free yourself of all guilt and burdens and focus on  the bright future ahead.

Remember this; What you put in front of you is what you see and that is what motivates or demotivate you.
